As sex tech advances and our curiosity about the world of sex dolls grows, it makes sense that companies are stepping up to fill a certain niche.
Over in Dortmund, Germany, a new brothel has opened in which the sex workers are different to the norm – they’re all plastic sex dolls.
Bordoll, a portmanteau of the words ‘bordello’ (meaning brothel) and ‘doll’, is the creation of Evelyn Schwarz, who says the brothel is already so popular that dolls are booked around twelve times each day.
‘For many it is not a fetish but more of a curiosity,’ says Evelyn. ‘ From those on benefits to judges. 70% of men also come back.’
Bordoll began after Evelyn tried to get into the S&M scene. Struggling to find the right people to work with, she decided to just buy 11 silicone sex dolls.
Each doll was imported from Asia and cost Evelyn £1,786… but they quickly earned the money back. Dolls are booked for around £71 per hour.
They have different heights, hair colour, and breast sizes to appeal to each client’s desires, and each one has a name picked out by Evelyn to convey its own character.
It might surprise you that the wives of the men who visit the brothel tend to be pretty supportive, seeing the dolls as sex toys rather than a form of cheating.
Evelyn says she often spots a client’s wife waiting in the car outside for her husband to finish enjoying his session.
There’s only been one not-so-great incident so far. A customer became overly excited and broke Anna, the most popular doll in the brothel. Evelyn had to speedily order a new one.
While in Japan there are tens of competing sex doll brothels for people to visit, the concept is still relatively new in Europe. The first opened in Barcelona last year, Bordoll is the second. Given its success, it’s likely others will hop on the sex doll brothel trend and bring it to the UK.
‘The dolls are ideal employees,’ Evelyn told Vice. ‘They’re always here because they’re never sick, they always look good and they offer all three holes with no complaints or extra charges.
‘Many of our guests see it as an opportunity to freely try out things they’ve seen happen in porn.
‘Their wives or girlfriends have their own needs, while a prostitute in a brothel has limits on what they will and won’t do, sexually. But our dolls do everything they want, in any position they like.’
